I had a NAS drive fail. Was having a battle with the vendor and HDD manufacture about a warranty replacement. I bought this to quickly (new egg shipped it immediately) resolve the issue until I sorted things out with the manufacture and vendor. Still not sorted out after a couple of weeks of back and forth, but good news is this drive is working great.

It is more slim than other 3.5 HDD.

These drives were on the compatibility list for my Synology DS218+ and they came recommended by a trusted IT professional, so I bought two of these drives to add space to my NAS (I was replacing a single 4TB drive). I added the first drive and it added seamlessly to the RAID array. It took a few hours for the NAS to populate the new drive. I was then able to hot swap the second drive. Extremely easy installation (which says as much for the DS218+). It may just be my perception, but these drives feel a little faster than my previous drive.

-Work well -quiet -should be reliable based on past experiences

Great price

- The drive works and provides good speed for my NAS. - Good storage amount for the price.

- It is a hard drive - it instals like any normal hard drive - it is as loud or quite as any drive

Bought this one to use it on Time Capsule instead of 3TB WD Green. 3 times better. Much faster access and back up. Very quiet and runs so far much cooler. If you ever consider between WD Red and WD Green, do not waste your time to think of it, go with the WD Red! Much better all around!

Big Best bang for buck value Quiet. I've read reviews whining about noisy hard drives in NAS boxes. My NAS is currently on my desk. I can hear the drive working but they are not loud.

Added to Unraid array with no dropped sectors.

Large drive for a very reasonable price.

Great Price

came on time price was nice 5 TB great size

8tb hard drive that works

I ordered a set of 4 of these. When they arrived, I ran the WD tools for a full surface test (I think it took about 4 - 6 hours) and every one of them was nearly perfect - I am impressed. They seem to run cool and aren't very loud. I have two of them in a NAS and a third in a computer for backup for several months and no issues. They even came with a cool sticker to put on the front of the case.

-Transfer rates are good - average a little over 200MB/s, drive to drive on the same LSI HBA on Unraid if it matters. -Temperature is good - average 30C in a 20C room during continuous transfer of files, about the same as a 6TB (WD6003FFBX), and about 5C lower than a 10TB (WD102KFBX). Idle temp is ~26C. This drive and comparables are in the same server/array. - Noise is relatively low, about the same as a 6TB and noticeably more quiet than the 10TB. - Cost per TB is good when on sale, very close to the largest 18-22TB rate.

Great price for a massive amount of disk space. This is the second unit I've bought. This one is quiet as it should be ... does not have the noise problem that the first had

Great read and write speeds, HUGE amount of space, and runs quiet and cool for a drive this size. Even under full load, I have never seen temps exceed 40C.

This drive is still in the box...Purchased for future use,but I have confidence in Seagate drives...Flawless operation of two others thus far...Powered up 24/7/365...Will purchase again...Rapid delivery as the norm...
